Fatigue and Parathyroid

Perhaps you and your doctors have been unable to come up with an explanation for your symptoms, such as tiredness, “brain fog”, problems with concentration or memory, or number other symptoms.  In your search for an explanation for your symptoms, you may have found this website, thinking that perhaps you have hyperparathyroidism.  If you have had a serum calcium level drawn and it is below 9, or in the low 9 range, it is VERY UNLIKELY that hyperparathyroidism is the source of your symptoms.

If you have a calcium level in the high nines, or certainly above 10, then you certainly should be evaluated for this possibility, by having a repeat serum calcium with intact PTH level drawn.  These 2 blood tests in most cases can determine that you either do or do not have this disease.  If these lab tests do not show that you have hyperparathyroidism, then you really need to search elsewhere for some explanation for your symptoms.  But if your PTH level and serum calcium are elevated, then you can rest assured that a curative operation will be a huge step in getting your life back in order, with resolution of some or all of your symptoms.

Schedule a consultation with Dr. John S. Kennedy to learn more about your condition and possible treatments.

When we catch hyperparathyroidism early, we can cure it before it damages your body. If you have a high calcium level, take it seriously and get tested.” —  Dr. John S. Kennedy
